Meals on Wheels Oklahoma City

Oklahoma County seniors 60 and older who are homebound due physical health issues, do not drive and have no one who can prepare a meal for them are encouraged to apply to receive Meals on Wheels.

We are here to help seniors maintain their health and remain safe in their homes by providing them with hot, nutritious meals.

We Currently Have a Waitlist of Approximately Two Months

Eligibility

Age: Meals on Wheels participants must be 60 years of age or older. We are unable to serve individuals younger than 60 regardless of disability.

Homebound: Participants must require significant physical assistance to leave their home. For example, an individual with impaired mobility who needs someone to help them exit the home and negotiate any steps would be eligible. An individual who can leave the home and transfer into a taxi or the vehicle of a friend or relative is not be eligible for Meals on Wheels. A participant would also not be eligible if they or another member of the household is able to drive or if someone in the home can prepare a meal for the homebound person.

If you are 60 or older, but are not homebound, you may contact the Areawide Aging Agency's Outreach program by calling (405) 942-8500. They provide nutritious meals to seniors Monday through Friday at several convenient sites around Oklahoma, Canadian, Cleveland and Logan Counties. If you need help arranging transportation to a meal site, they can assist with that as well.

Income: A person's income or resources is not considered when determining eligibility. Those with incomes below the 2024 poverty guidelines ($1,255 per month for an individual; $1,703.34 per month for a couple) are given priority over applicants whose income exceed the guidelines.

Please note: Meals on Wheels Oklahoma City reserves the right to deny, suspend or terminate meal delivery to any person or location that may present a risk to health or safety.

Availability

Once an applicant is determined to be eligible to receive home-delivered meals, we contact providers who prepare and deliver meals to the applicant's neighborhood. Meals on Wheels Oklahoma City and our  partner churches and organizations do not receive federal or state funding for meals and may be limited in the number of meals they can prepare each week. Because of this, applicants may be placed on a waiting list.

Cost

There is a suggested donation of $2.00 per meal, however no one will be denied service due to their ability to donate. All donations are used to help improve services to homebound seniors.

Delivery Area

Meals on Wheels Oklahoma City and our partners deliver meals in Oklahoma County, except in Edmond. There are some areas of Oklahoma County where we do not have partners to prepare and deliver meals.
